Aïda Ballmann, filmmaker among islands

The Herreña actress of German descent takes over the production and content of the Insularia festival

Aïda Ballmann, a Herreña filmmaker of German descent, is currently on her native island at the helm of the fifth edition of Insularia Islas en Red, the festival dedicated to the world’s island cinematographies. The Plaza of Tigaday, in the municipality of La Frontera, is the place chosen as a stop on the Meridian Island for this encounter with the seventh art, which is being held throughout the eight Canary Islands. For some time now, Aïda Ballmann has been combining her work as a film and theatre actress with documentary filmmaking. Since this year, she has also been coordinating the production and content of the Insularia Islas en Red festival.
