Little Kellen hasn’t spoken since his mother passed away. Embarrassed and isolated, his father makes the decision to travel one summer to the Island of El Hierro; thinking that a time away from the German city of Dresden will help him overcome the situation. Alaric and Ebba, a married couple who live on the Island, receive them at their house but the quarrels do not take long to appear, and it is that not even the years have erased the betrayals of the past that ended up separating them.
When Kellen meets Manuel, an old man from the town with an intellectual disability and a mental age of 10, a complicity is born between them that manages to overcome communication and linguistic barriers. In this way, the child’s fascinating world that hides behind Manuel’s loneliness: the naturalness of his new friend, the routines of the countryside and the charisma of the town.
